A foot in the door …

I hope the shop fitter realised he had some big shoes to fill here. Wintergarden Stage 2 hoarding creative by POD. Print and install by Forbes House. Photography by Steve Ryan.

Flower power

A challenge with every shopping centre redevelopment is the various stages of opening and how to ensure areas still under construction look as fab as the newly finished shops. POD created and delivered the visual merchandising for Stage 2 of Wintergarden. With metal butterflies cladding the exterior and a launch campaign of Come Play in the Garden as our only mandatory, we decided to let the garden go to our head in this location!

Mirror mirror on the wall …

Mirror mirror on the wall, I'd say this is one of the fairest hoardings of them all!

Creative concept and install by POD.  Wintergarden, Brisbane.

A little bit cheeky

POD has recently completed the concept development and branding for a quick service food outlet that can be found in the food hall at the new look Wintergarden in Brisbane's Queen Street Mall. Fresh and fabulous South East Asian salads, rice paper rolls and iced teas are being served up at Ms Chi Qi (pronounced Ms Cheeky).  Brisbane readers should pop in for a Peking duck wrap, prawn rice paper roll or a thai beef salad ... it's v. good!

I like Pat

Loving the look of Studio Equator's comprehensive brand story and store design for a grilled steak sandwich bar  in inner Melbourne. I am a sucker for screen printed ply and a brand having more than a passing try. It's quirky, fun and friendly. You can read more about it on Studio Equator's blog (big thank you to Carlos and the SE crew for the pics) or just go and have a grilled sandwich the Philly way at Pats.  You can find Pat at 338 Bridge Road Richmond Melbourne.

More on the go for Ko Ka Ko

New Zealand indie coffee brand with a loyal following, KoKaKo, has opened a good looking new cafe in a somewhat forgotten/dodgey spot on Great North Road. A brand that takes the road less travelled, from all accounts the locals are loving it. Serving up really good coffee, food and service in a great looking space, why wouldn't they be voting with their feet?! If you're living in, or lurking about, Auckland then head to 537 Great North Road Grey Lynn.

Starbucks … seriously

Kengo Kuma's signature slick stick style repositions Starbucks into a new stratosphere. Not sure I would love to be the staff members assigned the dusting duties, but from a drama perspective it beats the competition with more than one big stick. VM Hong Kong

Harvey’s in Honkers

Harvey Nic's is a stand out on the world VM stage. Their Christmas windows in Hong Kong were just clever clever clever ... and my pick for the 'big budget' stand out moment this season. A stunning composition of everyday objects formed into fabulous props showcase a snippet of super luxe, high-end fashion and accessories. Soles and lasts maketh the shoe. Naturally the key to a woman's heart in Honkers is a high-end brand handbag (just how many keys did it take to make that bag I wonder?) A teddy made from bottle teets is too cute and the cool dude composed of cassette tapes tickled my VM fancy (I am suspicious my new assistant Charmaine's young man was the model for this moment!). Charmaine is off to Honkers again next week. She is on a POD mission to see what daring Year of the Dragon VM and other shopping surprises she can find to share with us. via Italvision.
