Earlier this week I was super impressed with the swish new look for the Sorrento to Queenscliff ferry. A few paces away from the water front and I discover there is a gorgeous new look Country Road store housed in the town's old post office, a rustic red-brick building built back in 1905. Celebrating it's 41st year, Country Road is the perfect positioning for the chi chi Sorrento set. Naturally no lifestyle brand is complete without a cafe these days and Post 3943 taps into the coffee and casual dining trend. Operated by local organic specialists The Sisters, this 'resort / lifestyle' format will no doubt win huge favour with the locals for all its fabulousness! Photos via Country Road Instagram.
Chanel did it in Covent Garden back in March for Mothering Sunday (UK), now Country Road is getting in on the floral act this Mother's Day down here in Oz. Eye-spied CR's pop-up flower stall at their South Yarra flagship store (Melbourne) on the lovely Lucy Feagin's Design Files blog just a few minutes ago and thought to myself ... "It's a small world. A great idea is launched in March, re-invented to suit another brand (designed, manufactured, installed), and voila just 8 weeks later and a half a world away, here it is!". The web is a wonderful thing but it also makes discovering 'something new' out there a real challenge. A few years ago you could be 'daring, different and first', now you have to be bloody fast as well before 'everyone's seen it' and fatigue sets in. Photo via The Design Files (thanks Lucy!). Country Road's Christmas windows are always very good, as is their seasonal packaging. This year's design doesn't disappoint.
